Selenian Devotion is a collection of twelve folk hymns recorded into the night, in reverence to the Moon. They are not the hymns of any faith, but belong only to the one who sings them.
These hymns do not seek doctrine or congregation. They simply exist, as all true devotions do. They are found in the hush between night and dawn, between presence and distance. These songs, though born of one voice, might belong to any who have ever looked upwards and felt that quiet pull. There is no faith for them to belong to but the one that exists in the silence of personal reverence, where belief is not declared but felt.
Alone in its recording, alone in its offering, this album is the sound of devotion when freed from the weight of expectation.
It should be known that there is no call for response in these hymns, no expectation that the Moon will answer. This is not an attempt to summon or to seek. It is enough that it exists, that it remains, that it has been.
In their quiet way, these songs carry both sorrow and gratitude. There is a loneliness to devotion that exists outside of traditions, a sense of offering something into silence and never knowing if it is received.
And so these hymns are given to the Moon, as they were always meant to be.
